Thanksgiving

While our visit we had a Thanksgiving dinner with all the host families. There were turkey, mashed potatoes, potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, cake, pumpkin pie and more. That is just an example for what they eat todays on Thanksgiving.

The ‘First Thanksgiving’ was at the 22nd November 1621 from the Pilgrims and the Wampanoags, who helped them through the next winter. It was a three-day event in which the Pilgrims thanked the Wampanoags for their help.
They ate wild turkey, five deer, local vegetables (onions, beans, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, carrots, perhaps peas and corn) and fruits (blueberries, plums, grapes, goose berries, raspberries and cranberries).

Thanksgiving is the most important celebration for american families.
In Germany the people celebrate Thanksgiving on the first Sunday of October. In America they celebrate it on the fourth Thursday of November.

This is an example for self-made decoration in the USA.
