The Freedom Trail
Yesterday we went to Boston and got a guided tour along the Freedom Trail.
The Freedom Trail is 4.0 km long and
guides you through downtown Boston. We followed the trail, which is marked
as a red line on the floor and passed some of the 16 locations which are significant to
the history of the Independence of the United States.
Our guided tour started at the Faneuil Hall, where we met our tour guide, an actress, who stepped into the role of a slave at the time of the War of Independence.
The old state house, which was built in 1713, is the oldest public building in Boston.
At the Granary Burying Ground approximatly 5000 people were buried since 1660. There were also famous people like Samuel Adams, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and polititcan in Massachusetts, and John Hancock, a famous Patriot of the American Revolution, buried.
